About Us

Almost 20 years ago Ron Placsko bought Pipestone Guiding. His goal was to make Pipestone into one of the premier outfitting businesses in Saskatchewan. On Feb 7th of 2016 Ron suddenly passed away.

In an effort to keep his dad’s dream alive Ron’s son Darin decided to step in and keep the business going. This was a natural step for Darin because Darin helped his dad from day one. Darin has a passion for the outdoors (like many of the other great outfitters in Saskatchewan). When Darins not guiding clients he’s hunting or fishing with family and friends.

In 2016 Darin decided that he wanted some help in taking Pipestone to the next level. He called on longtime friends and clients Jon and Pat Kohls from Minnesota. The brothers from Minnesota had many years of hunting experience at Pipestone along with many other outfitters in Saskatchewan. Jon and Pat were excited about the opportunity to be a part of the business. So in 2016 Darin partnered with Jon and Pat and Bucketlist Lodge was formed.

Jon and Pat grew up in a small farming community west of the Twin Cities. They believe that every customer works hard for the money it costs them for a “once in a lifetime hunt” That means it is our obligation to give our customers the world class hunt they expect.

The owners of Bucketlist Lodge believe that having the very best lodging, food, equipment, guides, and hunting area will allow our customers the opportunity to enjoy the hunt of a lifetime.

In 2019 Bucketlist Lodge bought North 49 outfitting and added additional tags and hunting area to their arsenal. They also added another partner to the ownership group. Jake Busse from in Glencoe, MN. Jake was a client of Bucketlist Lodge and jumped at the opportunity to be part of the ownership group. Jake has been hunting and fishing since he was old enough to walk and his family (wife – Kim, sons – Logan & Lincoln, and daughter Stella) share his passion for the outdoors.
